School Awards:

Lucas won first prize in the prestigious Oscar Peterson Scholarship Award. Each year 5 students from the

Concordia University music program are nominated for the award. Nominees then put together a 1/2 hour performance

that was judged by a panel on October 31 at the Oscar Peterson Hall. This was an extremely proud moment in his career.

Excerpt from Concordia University Advancement & Alumni Relation newsletter:

Lucas Haneman, a third-year student enrolled in the Faculty of Fine Arts who is working toward a Bachelor’s degree in

Jazz performance and Guitar, delivered a moving address about how pleasantly surprised he was to have earned two

scholarships: the Oscar Peterson Scholarship and the Charles Elison - Stanley Aléong Award for Jazz Studies. He said the

scholarships allowed him “to think big. It may give me an opportunity to produce an album later his year,” said Haneman.
